Daily Universe

I got a text from a friend who works at BYU's newspaper The Daily Universe asking if I would like to have one of my photos run in the paper.

After finding out that I wouldn't get any compensation for it I declined. (The boys at W&W should be happy to hear that.)

I feel like I made the right decision. If I'd opened up that paper with my photo in it, I would have been pretty bummed that the paper was making money off it.

No free lunch BYU. My goal is to make a living with photography, and this is not the way to do it.

I'm not sure if this is the exact photo they wanted, but it's from the shoot.

  1. the daily universe is free at least so you know... they wouldn't be making much off it.

  2. Right, but most publications make most of their money from advertising anyway.

This issue is much more one of principal then anything else. They weren't willing to give me anything for my work.

  3. And having work in the Daily Universe is a little degrading anyway.
